The values stated are a result of rigorous independent laboratory testing to the highest standards. However, variances in performance on site may result, due to workmanship or other external factors that cannot be fully modelled within laboratory conditions. The tips given here are mainly taken from Robust Details and are a guide to achieving the highest possible ratings. |

Walls |
Floors • Lay Phonewell floating floor in a brickwork pattern tightly butted together, no need to tape or caulk joints • Where Phonewell is used on the adjoining wall flanking strips are not necessary. Otherwise install flanking strips around the perimeter of the flooring board to isolate floor from walls and skirtings. Alternatively a 5mm gap may be caulked with flexible sealent • If using thermal insulation, lay quilt between all joists ensuring no gap remains • Ensure ceiling battens or resilient bars are fixed at right angles to the joists • Screw ceiling layers into battens or resilient bars, not joists |

| Walls • Keep cavity wall ties free from mortar droppings and debris • Fully fill all blockwork joints with mortar • Make sure there is no connection between the two leaves except for wall ties and foundation • Only use solid blocks for separating and flanking walls • Keep chases for services to a minimum and fill with mortar. Avoid back to back chases • Flues must be built into a false chimney breast on separating walls • For exceptional ratings secure Phonewell to battens and plasterboard to Phonewell |
Floors • Butt planks or blocks tightly together • Grout all joints between planks/blocks • Fill all voids between walls and floors • Lay Phonewell floating floor in a brickwork pattern tightly butted together, no need to tape or caulk joints • Where Phonewell is used on the adjoining wall flanking strips are not necessary.
