*Please Note: PhoneStar was previously branded as Phonewell
Soundproofing ceilings with PhoneStar has been simplified with this high performance, unique and slim acoustic insulation board. The award winning and CE marked PhoneStar soundproofing material significantly reduces both airborne sound (e.g. talking, television, music noise) and impact sound (e.g. footstep noise, furniture moving overhead) through separating ceilings. PhoneStar is extremely popular for significantly reducing noise from noisy neighbours or from within one’s own home or workplace as well as for ensuring that a property meets Building Regulation requirements. If access to the floor above is available then the Soundproofing Floor section may be of interest. Because PhoneStar sound insulation is only 15mm thick, the complete finished system takes very little space off a room. The ceiling soundproofing system is relatively easy to fit and can be installed by a suitable tradesman as well as a DIY enthusiast and full installation instructions are provided. Please contact us if you would like a Soundproofing Installer to fit the system for you.
For added health and well-being benefits, PhoneStar acoustic insulation is made entirely from natural materials, it is sustainable and it is breathable which means that condensation and humidity can pass through it without damaging its structure. PhoneStar soundproofing boards have excellent thermal mass properties, which means that they will store heat and then release it gradually as the room cools. It can also be used if there is underfloor heating on the floor above. This CE marked sound proofing product has been rigorously tested both in terms of its acoustic performance as well as its structural capabilities. The unique PhoneStar sound insulation material is suitable for all soundproofing projects, irrespective of whether they are of masonry or timber construction. It is ideal for new build, conversion, refurbishment and remedial soundproofing projects.
Soundproofing Timber Joist and Solid Concrete Ceilings

There are various methods for ceiling soundproofing using PhoneStar depending on whether the ceiling is a timber or solid structure. We would strongly recommend that solid or concrete ceilings are decoupled with battens and resilient bars as they vibrate a lot due to their heavy weight and rigidity and this sound insulating treatment greatly reduces the vibrations. Timber ceilings must also be decoupled and this can be done by either leaving the existing plasterboard or lath and plaster in place, or this can be removed if desired. Thermal quilt insulation within the cavity will help to reduce airborne noise a little further and will reduce reverberations within the cavity that may arise. The PhoneStar ceiling soundproofing solutions will give excellent airborne noise reduction and impact noise reduction to enhance your quality of life. Please see the PDF above for expected ceiling soundproofing results.
