Noise Complaints in Northern Ireland
Noise complaints received by district councils in Northern Ireland from April 2012 to March 2013 have fallen by less than 1%. A total of 12,142 complaints were received in 2012/2013, compared to 12,193 in 2011/2012. 82% of all complaints made in this period related to domestic noise issues and the sources most complained about were loud music, television or parties and animal noise.
Does Old Insulation Work?
It is Ant Wilson of Aecom’s opinion that once installed most energy consuming systems such as lighting, boilers fans and chillers within the building cannot improve efficiency over time. This may not be the case with the building fabric as the thermal performance could improve if the building could become more airtight. As a building dries out the conductivity of component elements could decrease, resulting in a better insulated building.
Energy Efficiency in Local Authority Homes in Ireland to be Improved
Minister for Housing and Planning, Jan O’Sullivan, TD, has announced that €30m will be invested in upgrading the energy efficiency of local authority homes this year. The funding is part of a three year jobs stimulus programme that will see the energy efficiency of 25,000 of the poorest insulated local authority homes improved.
